Notes
This is an oriental “coon” song (cf. “My Castle on the Nile”) complete with a “little brown maid” named Dina[h] and a “big chief bold” in their birchbark canoe on the Nile.
Lyrics

Far away on the River Nile,
There liv’d a little brown maid,
With eyes as bright, as the bright star light,
And hair of a copper shade,
On the other side in a bamboo hut
All alone lived a big chief bold,
And every night in the bright moonlight
His love for the maid he told.

CHORUS:

While the big blue moon am beaming
And the stars shine up above,
That’s the time I see while dreaming
The sweet face of her I love,
Dina[h] don’t you hear me calling,
Come lets [sic] see that winning smile,
Just one kiss from those sweet ruby lips,
While the moon shines on the River Nile.

In a birch canoe built for me and you,
You’ll be queen of the River Nile,
While I sip the honey from those ruby lips,
And I’ll bask in your sunny smile,
The monkeys chattered in the palm tree tops,
While the alligator winked his eye,
And the man in the moon, when he saw them spoon,
Smiled as they drifted by.
