Notes
Another geographic muddle: Asia Minor is the location of the desert for caravans, etc.The three stanzas modulate from C minor to C Major to E♭ Major.

"Until the desert sands grow cold" recalls the title of Ernest R. Ball's "Till the Sands of the Desert Grow Cold" (1911).
Lyrics

Oh! the minute that I close my eyes,
I'm under Asia Minor skies,
I'm always haunted by those desert dreams,
Oh! what a beauty.
Seems I see a maiden in her teens,
Among the many pretty scenes,
Here's what I picture in my desert dreams:

I picture two big eyes as black as jet,
With love they shine and they're the kind
That I'll never forget. (My desert lady, my Arab baby)
Two big eyes that seem to say,
"I'm lonesome here, I want you, dear,"
I'm just carried away.

In all my desert dreams
I hear her calling from her caravan,
Oh! how I'd love to be her Arab man,
I'd be so happy with her there;
on a camel's back, together.
Desert dreams until the sands of the desert grow cold;
My empty arms are just longing to hold,
My little maid of desert dreams.
