This lyric has every cliche but the camels and the Nile: the pyramids, the Sphinx, the oasis, but also the scarab and obelisk. The tom-toms are slightly out of place, but have the advantage of being recognizable to an American audience as "native" drums. "Moonlight" floods the land instead of the Nile.
The pattern of [western] man recalling Eastern maid who will be true to him until his return is another cliche of the genre as is the musical shift from a minor key in the verse to a major in the chorus.
